The Queen Diva this Thursday surprised everyone and posted on her Facebook page saying:

“Those that know where I started from know that I have hiphop in my veins, haven't done a hiphop song in a while and so for the content that I want to put out I realised I would express it better through hiphop and I did just that. I hope my hiphop fans will love it because I'm going hard-core on this one.”

Indeed Zambian music fans know Mampi possesses rapping abilities, based off her previous beef with Slap Dee about a decade ago, as well as her feature on Macky 2’s “Ndimupondo” Allstar cypher. 

But it’s worth asking, why now? After all these years? Could this be an attempt at regaining the public’s favor after the recent political drama?

Regardless of the circumstances, it would be interesting to hear how she would sound on contemporary rap beats. The song title and release date are yet to be announced.
